agnès b. X Le Slip Français X La Fabrique NOMADE

A solidarity capsule

agnès b., La Fabrique NOMADE and Le Slip Français present their solidarity capsule collection, made in Paris by refugee tailors.

In 2020, Le Slip Français met with La Fabrique NOMADE, an association that promotes the professional integration of refugee and migrant tailors who have settled permanently in France.

With the creative and committed support of agnès b., they created together this first capsule collection made by 4 full time tailors of La Fabrique NOMADE. All profits from this capsule will be donated to the association.

This collection includes 4 mixed bandanas in light cotton voile, entirely hand-sewn, along with a bib apron in resistant cotton canvas, promoting the common desire to value skilled craftsmanship from all corners of the globe.

Common wish

Reinventing the french textile industry in a sustainable and human model.

Le Slip Français and agnès b. have joined forces to pass on their knowledge and expertise to the tailors and the association. The challenge of the program is to facilitate the professional integration of people with proven textile know-how in their countries of origin, by supporting them so that they can meet the needs of French clothing workshops that are struggling to recruit.

The drawings of Jacques Floret

Jacques Floret was initially destined to become a professional surfer, just like his father, but an accident brought his plans to a halt, and led him to devote himself to another of his passions: drawing.

For this capsule collection, he created four designs using a four-color bic pen, which were then reproduced on the bandanas.

Work in progress

The couturiers benefited from Rodolphe Meersschaert and Léa Marie's technical advice, respectively production manager at agnès b. and production manager at Le Slip Français, about the constraints related to the manufacturing of the capsule items. This collaboration has also made it possible to organise meetings and visits to the agnès b. workshop and to other textile companies.

This sharing of skills and transmission of know-how from the French workshops aims to promote the couturiers' long-term employability in France.

La Fabrique NOMADE

To demonstrate that migration is a valuable resource, and diversity a strength for our country. Since its creation, La Fabrique NOMADE has been defending a new model of integration that values the skills of migrants arriving in France, and supports its development by enabling these women and men to find their rightful place in society.

It acts for the professional integration of art craftsmen, and, since 2019, it has developed a custom-made manufacturing activity to meet the needs of different companies and brands. La Fabrique NOMADE is pushing its commitment further to multiply its impact by deploying its textile manufacturing activity to facilitate the professional integration of refugee and migrant couturiers. The textile workshop employs the tailors for 1 year, while also offering a training course combined with a manufacturing activity. This course aims to increase the skills of its participants to make sure they meet the requirements of this rapidly evolving market.

This workshop offers prototyping and manufacturing services in a local, solidarity-based and eco-responsible manner, in Paris, to brands and companies committed to sustainable fashion. It is in this context that the very first solidarity capsule was born.

The aim is to secure a working position for 60 couturiers in the next 3 years, as well as to meet the needs of different companies throughout France.
